Lucifer slid out of his chair and walked towards the exit.

It took a few minutes before Duke got another response.

"Absolutely not," Lucifer called, as he strolled up behind Duke. "Your wardrobe is much worse than mine, it deserves a proportionate response."

"My wardrobe is perfect," Duke objected, looking over and up at him with a smile. "If all I had were suits I'd be miserable."

"Spoken like a man who has never had a wardrobe full of bespoke suits before," Lucifer sniffed. And promptly risked the cleanness of his impeccable suit by sitting down next to Duke.

"That's very true," Duke allowed. "But then, I've also never needed a wardrobe full of bespoke suits."

He offered Lucifer his fishing pole.

"Care to try some fish meditation?"

Lucifer opened up his mouth to scoff and perhaps point out to Duke that was a ridiculous idea, but something in him made him hesitate.

He looked down at the fishing pole.

"This once," he capitulated, and reached for it.

Duke 100% did not expect him to say yes. He blinked at Lucifer for a moment, then slowly grinned.

"Hell yeah, babe." He handed Lucifer the rod and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek to go with it. "Broaden those horizons."

"Don't rub it in," Lucifer sighed. He looked at Duke. "Right, so how does this work...?"

"Here, let me show you." Duke reeled the line back in, then held the rod out to Lucifer again, showing him how to reel and cast. "When I was a kid, I thought this was the best part. Casting the line. Once you get it out there, you mostly just sit and wait for something to bite."

"Really? Because that sounds like the better part," Lucifer said, watching the little-- thing at the end hit the water. "Sitting and drinking."

Honey, see above re: how good you were at sitting still.

"Uh huh," Duke said, amused. "I was a fidgety kid. Sitting still wasn't my favorite thing."

"Then fishing seems like a terrible hobby to begin with," Lucifer pointed out. "Why go for it at all?"

"Free food," Duke said simply, looking out over the water.

"Ah," Lucifer said.

He looked out over the water, too.

Duke let that hang for another beat, then shrugged. “Anyway. As I got older, I learned to appreciate the peacefulness of it, you know? Things get loud and the fish run away.”

"Fish meditation," Lucifer supplied, tossing him a small smile.

“Fine, fish meditation,” Duke said, amused. “Meditation that ends in food.”

"If you're lucky," Lucifer said, amused. "I'm not seeing you bring in any fat, fresh fillets yet."

"Patience, babe," Duke chided. "It's all about patience."
